Valuable help for integration

Integration into the previously foreign Germany and into an employment relationship subject to social insurance contributions is the aim of the special educational measures “Focus on Career and Work” at the ISE language and vocational training center for people with a migration background. The job center takes over the financing.

Amberg (usc) 34 immigrants have successfully overcome the first hurdle and are about to get a job or already have an employment contract in their pockets. Rapid integration only works for migrants if, in addition to language skills and basic qualifications, advanced qualifications in the industrial, commercial and nursing sectors are acquired.

These provide special courses from the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center in Amberg, an educational provider approved and certified by the Federal Employment Agency. The last two courses, whose successful completion could now be celebrated, were mainly attended by immigrants from Syria and Iraq, but also some refugees from Afghanistan and Iran as well as EU citizens from Poland and Hungary.

The professional qualifications acquired in each home country look very different, as Marianne Schubert, head of the measure, explained. In addition to unskilled workers, a pharmacist, a lawyer and a few engineers also went to school. Their problem is the lack of German recognition of their professional qualifications.

Before the men and women of different ages can start looking for a job, they must master work-related German. Through ISE they gained insight into automotive technology and warehouse logistics. The courses also provided qualifications in the commercial and nursing areas for later career development.

During the course of the training measure, it became clear that one or two participants definitely needed to improve their language skills. Some have got their car driving license, some have also got their forklift license. According to Marianne Schubert, there is also interest in being employed as a professional driver with a truck license.

At the end of the first measure, ISE was able to get ten participants out of 24 people into jobs subject to social security contributions. In the second measure with ten participants placed by the job center, three found a job and one person got a training place.

Rainer Liermann from the job center, who took part in the distribution of certificates with measures supervisor Nina Werner, was full of praise for the exam results achieved and the sometimes remarkable good language skills. He encouraged immigrants to build on the knowledge they had acquired. He continued to offer his help.
