Successful integration work at ISE

On the mountain. (usc) Rapid linguistic and professional integration of refugees from unsafe countries of origin, but also of EU citizens who have moved here and recognized asylum seekers, is a task that the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center has set itself the goal of, as an important partner of job centers, employment agencies and Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. Current educational measures are already showing success. From two courses, 13 of 27 participants found employment during the course.

From July 27th, 25 people who were identified by the job center as having language deficiencies went back to school every day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., all of them recognized asylum seekers or EU citizens. This was a measure to impart language skills and professional qualifications in the industrial, commercial and nursing sectors on a full-time basis.

In 1,120 course hours, including 960 teaching hours and 160 internship hours, the job-seeking men and women also went through computer, internet and application training, gained insight into the requirement profiles of various professions, received social-educational support and, very importantly, also learned about everyday working life through practical work at various companies and institutions. ISE managing director and Sonja Schleicher, head of the job center, were pleased that eight participants from this course got permanent jobs.

The efforts of the partners involved were also successful in getting participants of a twelve-week course to impart knowledge into employment subject to social security contributions. According to ISE, five out of twelve men and women managed to get an employment contract, not least during a four-week internship in the commercial and nursing sectors. Among other factors, the ISE's good support and job placement contributed to this. Other participants left a good impression in the internship companies and were given the option to take up training and employment at a later date.

When the certificates were awarded, the head of the job center congratulated the job seekers on the commitment and determination that they had shown during the courses.

If there is an apparent need, ISE organizes special integration courses. They are aimed at foreigners, EU citizens and repatriates who want to learn the German language from scratch or want to expand and consolidate their language skills. The ISE teachers are licensed to take the B1 German certificate exam.

An integration course consists of 600 hours of language lessons and 60 hours of orientation course with information about politics, history and social life. An authorization certificate from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, BAMF for short, the Federal Office of Administration, the Immigration Office or the job center entitles you to participate.

Both immigrants who want to integrate and German citizens with a migration background who do not have sufficient knowledge of German have a legal right to take part in an integration course.
