This is what the ISE integration courses have stood for for 21 years.
The first “German language course” started in the Rotkreuzhaus in Amberg in 1989. Over time, the ISE has accompanied more than 8,000 new citizens from many countries around the world on their first steps in Germany.
Before the introduction of the Immigration Act in 2005, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) used a strict approval process to select qualified educational providers to run integration courses. ISE’s application was successful – and its work still is. The 28th course started in January.
Who can participate?
The integration courses are aimed at foreigners, EU citizens and repatriates who want to learn the German language from scratch or want to expand and consolidate their language skills.
What can participants expect?
600 hours of intensive study of the German language and 45 hours of introduction to the politics of a democracy, an overview of recent German history and the communication of fundamental values of German society.
What content are the 645 hours filled with?
Of course, vocabulary and a minimum of grammar rules are essential requirements. But the language course never gets stuck in theory. Going shopping for the first time without fearful glances at other customers, visiting the authorities unaccompanied and going to the doctor alone for the first time makes you proud and self-confident. In this way, what has been learned is implemented and consolidated in everyday life. In addition, such successes motivate you to continue learning and give you strength to persevere.
It is the language instructors' declared goal that the course participants pass the German test for immigrants - important for naturalization. And with a rate of over 80%, the ISE Language and Vocational Training Center is well above average.
