My experiences at ISE

I took part in the “Qualification as an Accounting Specialist” on February 23rd. took part in the ISE in Amberg until August 21, 2009. The most important areas from this course, for me personally, were: Using DATEV, SAP R/3, Lexware and Business English. Since I had already worked in accounting for years, the basics of accounting were nothing new to me. However, since my course colleagues and I have very different previous knowledge (as in every course), we supported each other.

The lecturers at ISE make the lessons very acceptable. I don't mean that we pushed a “quiet ball”! There was a lot of material for the lecturers to teach and for us participants to learn. Thanks to the always open-minded, friendly and patient ISE lecturers, who were also happy to have fun from time to time, I and my colleagues found the atmosphere to be very pleasant.

The lessons were always well prepared. We received all the necessary documents (books, folders, writing paper, etc.). Each topic was explained to us by the lecturer using examples. We were able to ask questions at any time, which were then dealt with and answered. We participants were encouraged to participate actively in the lessons at all times. This meant that everyone was included, even those who may have struggled with motivation at the beginning. This was also promoted through group work. Everyone was also given the opportunity to complete their tasks in the time required and then compare the different results. This sometimes varied greatly, due to the different previous knowledge. When we had free time, we had the opportunity to search for job offers on the Internet.

Before the end of the course, we finished the accounting material according to the syllabus. Our lecturer, Ms. Petra Hausmann, used this time to instruct us in the basics of cost and performance accounting (outside the curriculum!).

I also found the application training by Mr. Max Schobert extremely important and very good. We have been brought up to date on what is required to compile the application documents. Preparing for interviews was also a big topic. What questions are asked and what aptitude tests are there? We also received tips about reading and websites to help with these topics.

I would like to emphasize: The management, lecturers and employment agents at ISE were always courteous to us participants with a friendly and open-minded manner that is no longer a given today. Many thanks to all of you!
